Ovarian cyst may cause difficulty in conceiving depending on type & size of ovarian cyst. Polycystic ovary is not a type of ovarian cyst.
If you have an ovarian cyst and want to conceive, your treatment may vary from other women providing you are being given importance of retaining the ovarian tissue.
If the size of the cyst is small you will be suggested expectant (wait and watch) or medical treatment.
If the cyst is big or causing any problems you will be suggested surgery.
Surgery may involve removing only the cyst and leaving behind ovarian tissue which is required for your future fertility.
If the cyst is of cancerous type you may be suggested to remove one or both ovaries. If one ovary is removed you can conceive with another ovary. If Both ovaries are removed you have to check your options for future fertility with your doctor which may like egg freezing or embryo freezing.
